Former Patriot Ty Law gave Darrelle Revis his Hall of Fame news

Former Patriots cornerbacks Ty Law and Darrelle Revis always shared a special bond, coming from the same hometown. On Thursday, Law took part in giving Revis life-changing news that the Aliquippa, Pa., native will never forget.

Law, who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2019, was videotaped telling Revis he was being elected into the 2023 Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The 30-second video clip, which was filmed for the NFL Network’s show ‘Hall of Fame Knocks: Welcome to Canton,’ depicts Law knocking on a door and saying three simple words to Revis: “Welcome to Cantonese.”

Revis played eight seasons with the New York Jets and also had stints with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Kansas City Chiefs, and the Patriots. Law and Revis played together on the Jets in 2008. When Revis came to New England in 2014, he wore the same number (24) that Law donned inside Gillette Stadium.

Revis’ only season with the Patriots was one to remember. That year, Revis won the only championship of his career when the Patriots defeated the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX.

That same year Revis was named to the Pro Bowl and received his fourth All-Pro team recognition. He played in all 19 games, recording two interceptions and 41 solo tackles (47 in total). The cornerback also led the Patriots with 14 passes defended. He finished his career with seven Pro Bowls.

Revis was a first-ballot Hall of Famer and was elected alongside cornerback Ronde Barber, offensive tackler Joe Thomas, linebacker Zach Thomas, linebacker DeMarcus Ware, coach Don Coryell, linebacker Chuck Howley, defensive lineman Joe Klecko, and cornerback Ken Riley. The nine-player class will be enshrined in Canton, Ohio, in early August.

Fans will be able to watch Revis, and others in the Hall Of Fame Class Of 2023, receive the news on Saturday at 8 pm on the NFL Network.
